High-Speed Silicon Photonic IC Validation Board Designer

You will be responsible for designing the validation boards of high-speed Silicon Photonics IC targeting optical communication at 800Gbit/s and beyond. You will define the RF transmission lines at the board, package and IC level. In this role, you will work closely with the Silicon Photonics IC designers, interface with RF high speed electronics IC suppliers, and drive the board development, manufacturing and test.  

Main Tasks :

  • Design the Validation boards and Reference Design Implementation

  • Create schematics that includes high-speed ICs, photonics ICs, microcontrollers, communication interfaces, and layout the PCB or substrate for 0-60 GHz transmission lines. 

  • Follow-through the fabrication, and bring-up of the validation board

  • Evaluate external suppliers of electronics components (modulators driver, TIAs)

  • Conduct component and system level characterizations for optical and electrical performances 

  • Collaborate with the photonics IC designer to manage RF signals on the silicon photonics die  

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in electronic system design and implementation, including RF circuit simulation (0-60GHz), circuit design, PCB layout, and characterization.

  • Know-how of board layout technics, and familiar with design tools such as Mentor or Altium

  • Experience in RF circuit simulation and troubleshooting at both circuit and substrate level using EM wave simulators such as HFSS

  • Experience in using VNA​

Work experience :

  • 2-3 years of related hands-on of hardware design experience

 

Education :

  • MS, Ph.D. degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering

 

Others :

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment, accomplishing tasks with limited resources at a rapid space

  • Problem-solving attitude 

  • Very motivated by Customer product development activity

  • English language mandatory (international context)
