What is the real impact of our digital life on the environment? Does digital technology really consume less energy than it saves? What avenues for progress are manufacturers working on? These were the questions asked during the virtual round table at the Totem, organized by Bpifrance Le Hub, on March 8, 2021. Sylvie Menezo, was invited to give her point of view on the contribution of photonic integration to the global effort for reducing energy consumption of optical communications, which are essential to our daily digital life.
